TAYLOR, Mich., Aug. 2014 - It’s an exciting August here at Atlas Oil! This week, we broke the news that we purchased a new K9 police dog for the Taylor Police Department. The new K9 will support our local police department and help protect families in our community—as safety is our top priority, this initiative fits perfectly into our culture and mission.

This past winter, the Taylor Police Department recognized the need to add a K9 unit, but did not have the necessary funds to secure one. Recognizing Atlas Oil as strong corporate citizen with a longstanding history of supporting the community, the police department and the City of Taylor approached our Chairman and CEO Sam Simon with the idea for Atlas Oil to sponsor the dog, and name it after our company!

Atlas, the new K9, is an 18-month-old German Shepherd. After going through 12 weeks of certification with his handler and Officer Rick Barnosky, Atlas is already working shifts as the newest member of the Taylor Police Department.

The Taylor Police Chief Mary Sclabassi shared with us that having a K9 is like having another officer on staff. The dogs are highly intelligent and skilled at performing in-depth searches and other projects, significantly improving the department’s operations. Both the city and the police department are deeply grateful for Atlas Oil’s continued support in keeping our community safe and strong.

In the very near future, be on the lookout for news of a second K9 joining the Taylor Police Department courtesy of Atlas Oil!
