Atlas Oil had a busy summer full of growth, collaboration and recognition. From new perks for team members to technological advancements, summer at Atlas was a huge success!

We kicked off the season with a cookout at our Home Office in Taylor, Michigan, complete with lawn games. The team enjoyed great food and friendly competition on a beautiful Friday afternoon.

Another event that was a team favorite was our Q2 Town Hall. The event featured an overview of the quarter’s happenings, plans for the next quarter and our quarterly Sammy Awards. The Sammy Awards are a peer recognition program where team members who go above and beyond are nominated by their peers for their work throughout the quarter. The Q2 winners are now eligible to win one of our Annual Sammy Awards, where the grand prize winners receive a trip to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico.

Atlas Cares, the philanthropic arm of Atlas Oil, was active this summer too as we sponsored several events with the help of our team and the Sam and Nada Simon Foundation. From supporting the Downriver for Veterans Armed Forces Day to sponsoring a local classroom to running in the Motor City Triathlon for Team Joseph, the A Team worked hard to give back to the community.

Atlas was recognized as an Inc. 5000 fastest-growing private company for the fifth time in the company’s 33-year history, citing the Atlas’ growth from 2014 - 2017. During that time, Atlas promoted the concept of “Fueling Innovation” in every area of the business. As a result, Atlas was listed as number 4486 on the Inc. 5000 list. Additionally, our founder Sam Simon was named a top 500 business leader in Metro Detroit by D Business magazine for his dedication to growing the local economy while also giving back to the community through several charitable initiatives.

This truly was the summer for awards, as Atlas won the Excellence in Health and Safety award and was a finalist in the Trucking Company of the Year and Oilfield Services Company of the year categories at the 2018 Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Awards. This prestigious achievement is a testament to the power of Atlas’ vision, hard work and, above all, dedication to safety.

While these perks add to the fun and comradery in our nationwide offices, Atlas’ HR team knows that these aspects of company culture do not matter nearly as much as the company benefits package to our team members. Atlas’ dedication to caring for the needs of our team members earned us the Marsh & McLennan Agency TrendBenderTM award this summer. TrendBendersTM, or organizations with the lowest benefits cost increase averaged over two consecutive years, typically have a 1-3% benefits cost decrease, while Non-TrendBendersTM often see huge increases.

One of the team’s favorite office renovations is the new “ReFUEL Zone” Gazebo. The ReFUEL Zone is used for lunch breaks, meetings and a workstation on sunny days. The A Team celebrated the grand opening of the ReFUEL Zone with a Pig Roast. The team gathered at the Home Office for the celebration that included delicious food, fun lawn games and colorful Hawaiian shirts.

On top of renovations at our existing offices, Atlas opened two new terminals to support our growing chemical transportation division. Located in Charlotte, NC, and Louisville, KY, these terminals are part of Atlas’ first over-the-road routes in the region supporting the petrochemical industry.

As the summer began to wind down, the Atlantic Hurricane Season reached its peak and Hurricane Florence wreaked havoc on the east coast. Our Emergency Fueling Team assembled in the Mission Critical Command Center at our Home Office. Our drivers quickly deployed nearly 70 assets from across the country to support remediation efforts, taking with them state-of-the-art equipment and technology.

Atlas continues to make progress on our digital transformation initiatives, surpassing several milestones that will be integral to achieve our future growth plans. Investing in our systems will drive new efficiencies into the business, streamline many of the day-to-day tasks and improve visibility and connectivity to the supply chain to better serve our customers.

All these events, awards and innovative initiatives made this summer at Atlas one for the books. Learn more about our work by exploring our website or following @atlasoil on your favorite social media platforms.
