This month, meet John, a staple around Atlas Oil, and also an avid golfer and coin collector. In this profile, we’ll discuss John’s favorite perks of working at Atlas and how to keep the roads safe for everyone, including the commercial drivers who keep America running.
John began his career delivering home heat fuel, and though he’s become responsible for a more diverse portfolio of deliveries since joining the A Team in 2005, he still prefers delivering fuel for home heat above all else.
“It’s really nice being able to help residents stay warm, especially with the rough winter we’ve been having in Michigan this year,” said John.
John does admit that driving a tankwagon does it have challenges, despite all the help the fuel onboard provides for residents, businesses, and mission critical organizations.
“People in traffic don’t seem respect each other anymore,” said John about his biggest pet peeve on the road. “I wish people would realize I’m driving a tank-load of fuel—not milk. The tankwagon is obviously not a Maserati, so please drive slowly and give us space.”
Even on days when the traffic is a little heavy, John, like much of the A Team, knows he can rely on his fellow drivers at Atlas to turn the day back around.
“The drivers here at Atlas are just really good guys to be around,” said John. “The comradery here is rare, and it definitely keeps everybody’s spirits up.”
“I really would recommend working at Atlas Oil,” he added. “It’s a great place for those who want to stay close to home, be home every night, and make a good living with great benefits. The technology and equipment at Atlas is new and easy to use too. I would like to see younger generations start coming back to the driving industry, and I always tell people looking to make a career change to consider getting their CDL.”
