You've heard of it... You think you might need it... But, you're not sure you understand it. Confused? You're not alone.

There is a lot of conflicting information in the marketplace about just what DEF is, what it does and who is mandated to be using it to meet Federal guidelines.

DEF is a mixture of high purity synthetic urea and deionized water that is used in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems on diesel engines. It is injected into the exhaust stream via a controlled dosing module to react with and neutralize the NOx molecules and convert them to harmless nitrogen and water.

The Environmental Protection Agency requires all 2010 and newer on road diesel vehicles to be equipped with SCR technology which requires the use of DEF. Off road vehicles will be phased in next year.

Atlas Oil is proud to be a part of the North American initiative to clean the environment and reduce NOx emissions. We are a master distributor for BlueDEF® Diesel Exhaust Fluid. BlueDEF is manufactured by Old World Industries, the producers of high quality products such as Peak Antifreeze. Atlas can help you meet your company's needs for DEF and help you become EPA compliant. We offer:

A Heartfelt Thank You to Military Men and Women

The crowd stood front and center facing the American Flag that hung from the rafters of Hangar #36 at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Then the band began singing the National Anthem, a song I’ve heard and sung countless times, at ballgames and on many other occasions. But this time was different. This time I was surrounded by members of all branches of the U.S. Military. They were in uniform and standing at attention, facing the flag of a Country they love and vow to protect. continue reading >>
